RS3 Hiscores Comparison ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that allows users to compare RuneScape 3 player hiscores. This privacy policy explains how the Extension handles user data.

Data Collection

This extension does not collect or transmit any personal information to external servers.

The Extension stores player names and preferences locally in your browser for convenience, but this data never leaves your device. The Extension does not send any data to external servers except for the API requests necessary to fetch public hiscores data.

User Input

Player names entered by users are:

• Used only to fetch public hiscores data from RuneScape's official API
• Stored locally in your browser's localStorage for convenience (so you don't have to re-enter them)
• Not transmitted to any third-party servers (except the RuneScape API)
• Not shared with any other services
• Stored entirely on your device and never sent to external servers

The extension stores player names and your threshold preference in your browser's localStorage so they persist between sessions. This data remains on your device only and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings.

Third-Party Services

The Extension makes requests to the following third-party services:

RuneScape API (secure.runescape.com)

• Purpose: Fetch public hiscores data for the player names you enter
• Data Sent: Only the player name you type (as part of the API request URL)
• Data Received: Public hiscores data (rank, level, XP) which is already publicly available
• Privacy: RuneScape's API is public and does not require authentication. The player names you enter are sent to RuneScape's servers as part of the API request, but this is the same as visiting their website directly.

Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com)

• Purpose: Load web fonts for typography
• Data Sent: No user data is transmitted
• Privacy: Google Fonts may collect standard web analytics (IP address, browser type) as per Google's privacy policy. This is standard for any website using Google Fonts.

Data Storage

Local Storage (Browser Only)

The Extension uses your browser's localStorage to store the following information locally on your device:

• Player names you enter (for convenience, so you don't have to re-type them)
• Your threshold preference (the difference percentage you set)

Important:

• This data is stored only on your device in your browser's localStorage
• This data is never transmitted to any external servers
• This data is never shared with any third parties
• You can clear this data at any time through your browser's settings
• No hiscores data is cached or stored - it is fetched fresh each time you compare players

Permissions

The Extension requests the following permissions:

• Host Permissions: Access to secure.runescape.com, fonts.googleapis.com, and fonts.gstatic.com
  • These are required to fetch hiscores data and load fonts
  • No other permissions are requested

Children's Privacy

This Extension does not knowingly collect any information from children. The Extension only accesses publicly available hiscores data.
